Distinction er Tamdhus svar på hvorledes deres spirit udvikler sig på oloroso sherry fade af amerikansk eg.
Fadene er bygget af sorten Quercus Alba som findes i skovene i nord amerika. Stavene transporteres til spanien hvor de lufttørrer inden de bliver samlet til fade. Sherry bliver fyldt på fadet og aftappet inden fadene sendes til Tamdhu.
Tamdhu Distinction er aftappet ved 48% og kan købes i UK, Tyskland, Holland, Asien og Australien.
Noter (Tamdhu):
Nose: Warming cinnamon and vanilla, with sharp citrus and cherry flavours
Palate: A rich and luscious palate brings plum, dates, chocolate, and subtle oak notes
Finish: Fruity notes continue with a decadent portion of syrup sponge

Quercus Alba Distinction II
Tamdu er nu kommet med den 2. aftapning i serien Distinction. Quercus Alba Distinction II har som navnet antyder ligget på amerikansk eg, der dog har været brugt som sherry fade først.
Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery Manager, siger: "We’re dedicated to sherry casks at Tamdhu, and our Distinction series allows us to take an even closer look at how American Oak sherry maturation impacts our whisky.
Distinction II has a wonderfully nuanced profile that’s noticeable when compared to our European oak bottlings while still retaining that classic Tamdhu style - fruity palate, indulgent mouthfeel, soft oak, and unmistakable hints of sherry."
Quercus Alba Distinction II har noter af: "malt, vanilla, and spiced oak, along with zesty oranges and fresh mint. A rich and luxurious mouthfeel brings damsons and dark chocolate. The finish is prolonged with sherried oak giving way to figs, golden syrup, and freshly baked crumble."
