4. release af Cask Strenght aftapningerne kan nu købes i deres shop.
Til denne aftapnin har Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion for første gang benyttet first-fill ex-port hogsheads. Der ud over er der benyttet first-fill sherry-seasoned European og American oak casks, og ex-bourbon og refill casks.
Gordon forklarer hvorfor han har valgt at bruge port casks til denne aftapning: "The Cask Strength series gives me the freedom to create something different, while still delivering the essential DNA of Highland Park flavour and character. Each release is unique, so I can use interesting casks that we only have in very small quantities – like these ex-port hogsheads. They give a wine-influenced character to the whisky – soft red fruits and floral sweetness – that you don't get with sherry seasoned casks, which deliver dried fruit and spicy notes. Although I used just a small percentage – sherry seasoned European casks are still the predominant cask type here – their distinctive flavours really do come through and using them in a limited-edition release like the Cask Strength Release No. 4 is an ideal way to create that point of difference we want to explore in our Cask Strength series".

I forbindelse med kroningen af King Charles III, er Wolfburn kommet med denne aftapning.
Coronation har ligget på first-fill bourbon barrels i lidt mere end 7 år inden den aftappet og er unpeated.
Der er aftappet 600 flasker ved 57,8%
Noter (Wolfburn):
Nose: Spring blossoms meet gentle oak smoke and dried fruit, all overlaid with a subtle sweetness.
Palate: A mouthful of fruit cake: dates, almonds, maple syrup and dark chocolate are all present. Give it time and subtle spices reveal themselves – gentle layers of cardamom and cinnamon.
Finish: Hints of vanilla gently fade gently away with a warming trace of caramel at the end.

Gordon & MacPhail har i forbindelse med kroningen af King Charles III, aftappet en Glen Grant fra 1948.
The Private Collection 1948 fra Glen Grant destilleri, blev fyldt på et first-fill Sherry cask den 10. april 1948 og aftappet 74 år senere den 15. december 2022.
Der kommer 281 flasker aftappet ved 50,4%
"To celebrate the release, a donation of £25,000 is being made by Gordon & MacPhail to The Prince's Foundation. The charity runs a diverse programme of education and training for all ages and backgrounds, including traditional arts and heritage craft skills, horticulture, wellbeing and hospitality and regeneration projects to support communities."

Colour: Amber
Nose: Fragrant festive spices complement mulled berries with a hint of raisin. Lemon zest comes to the fore alongside demerara sugar and subtle beeswax polish.
Taste: Red apple flavours infuse with bitter orange and milk chocolate. Subtle smoke develops accompanied by fresh peppermint leaves.
Finish: Full finish with lingering grapefruit and mature oak.

Ny single cask aftapning på vej fra Bladnoch. Aftapningen er produceret i 2008 og har ligge på cask 222, en bourbon barrel.
Der kommer 148 flasker, aftappet ved 49,4%
Aftapningen vil kunne købes fra den 21. april kl. 09:00 GMT.

Tredie aftapning i Gordon & MacPhail serien, Mr George Legacy er nu frigivet.
Aftapningen er en Glen Grant, destilleret den 15. oktober 1959 og har ligget på cask no. 3665, en first fill Sherry butt. Fadet er hældt på flaske den 2. november 2022 ved fadstyrke på 56,5% og er det sidste fad de har på lager fra 1959.
Nose: Fragrant autumnal spice aromas intertwine with sweet, dried fruit and demerara sugar.
Taste: Notes of stewed red fruit flavours lead to Seville orange with a hint of garden mint followed by tart raspberry, cocoa powder accompanied by mature oak.
A full finish on the palate with lingering cinnamon and forest fruits.

Bruichladdich arbejder efter filosofien ‘farmer first’ og på baggrund af dette, aftappet den første Islay rye whisky.
Hvorfor så rye whisky?
"Accountable for our impact from the ground up, we learned that rye is a beneficial crop which replaces essential nutrients which barley removes from the land. It not only improves soil health, but reduces the need for artificial input – keeping costs down for the farmer while being more environmentally friendly."
The Regeneration Project består af 55% Islay dyrket rug og 45% maltet byg. Kornet kommer fra Coull farm på Islay
Kornet er høstet i 2017 og destilleret samme år.
Aftapningen er 5 år gammel, og har lagt på first fill bourbon casks og first fill American virgin oak casks. Den er aftappet ved 50%
Noter (Bruichladdich):
Nose: Spice from the rye instantly comes through, accompanied with waves of liquorice, black pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg which also speak of the grain and showcase the unique characteristics that rye brings to the whisky. Toasted oak brings a resinous freshness, while chocolate limes add a touch of citrus to the heady mix. Overtime the Islay character is unmistakable, defined by maritime notes of the ocean, warm sand and delicate citrus and honey.
Palate: The softness of the whisky is counterbalanced by the rye’s spicy, peppery heat. Toasted Virgin oak brings sweetness with marzipan, vanilla and chocolate, beautifully complementing the spice of the rye and the citrus green fruit notes of the Islay grown barley. With real complexity, depth and contrast, a myriad of flavours are at play – each essential in telling the story of this unique exploration into distilling new grain.
Finish: While the nose and taste speak of the rye and its distinctive spicy, peppery profile, the finish is a homage to the oak, showcasing its delicate floral and fruity character. Sweet rich oak, ripe pear and green apple are followed by a delicate malty pastry, with vanilla custard settling on the finish.

Tobermory er kommet med en 25 års aftapning i serien The Hebridean.
Den kommer i en begrænset mængde flasker og er afsluttet på oloroso sherry fade og er aftappet ved 48,1%
"For this third release in our Hebridean Series, we wanted to create a brighter, fruitier flavour profile. Bottling at 48.1% ABV has resulted in a lighter, more complex and open expression of Tobermory compared to the 24 year old. It still delivers on the red and stone fruit flavours but its moved away from intense, jammy flavours to something a little lighter, zestier and more fruity.!
Noter (Tobermory):
Nose: Notes of freshly baked bread, candied orange peel and butterscotch are met with a gentle cinnamon spice and dusting of cocoa.
Palate: Fruity notes of blackcurrant jam, peaches and lemon peel fade to reveal honeyed almonds and coconut with a soft floral note and a touch of mint.
Finish: Lingering spicy finish with poached pears and nutmeg.

GlenAllachie er kommet med tre nye aftapninger i deres Virgin Oak Series.
En 8 års aftapninger er afsluttet på Scottish Virgin Oak, en 7 års afsluttet på Hungarian Virgin Oak og en 10 års afsluttet på Spanish Virgin Oak.
Alle tre aftapninger kommer ved 48% og ens for alle er at de har ligget på American Oak (Quercus Alba) ex-Bourbon Barrels inden de er afsluttet i ca. 18 måneder på virgin oak.
Den 8 års Scottish Virgin Oak Finish er afsluttet på Sessile Oak (Quercus Petraea), hvor træet kommer fra vestkysten af Skotland. Træet er lufttørret i 36 måneder og er medium toasted og charred.
Den 7 års Hungarian Virgin Oak Finish, har ligget i 18 måneder på Quercus Petraea fra Zemplén, en skov i bjergene i nordøst Ungarn.
"The rocky volcanic soil, along with the colder climate and higher altitude in which it grows, means trees in the area grow very slowly, developing tighter grain: a desirable trait for ageing spirit."
Den 10 års Spanish Virgin Oak Finish har ligget på brugte hogsheads af Quercus Robur fra Cantabrian mountains hvor der køligt med fugtigt.
Træet er lufttørret i 18 måneder og toasted og charred.
Billy Walker siger: "Virgin oak of varying provenance presents endless possibilities to me as a whisky maker. Exploring a variety of oak types, toasting and charring the casks to particular levels, and then closely observing the spirit development over time has been a truly joyful experience."
